Hey guys! I promised the game would be done today, and it is! :D
Enjoy, my latest game in a long time! (not counting the new year minigame :))
This game is a vertical shooter with lots of upgrades and Pokemon! The game starts out pretty easy, then gets progressively harder(I think) with harder and harder enemies. There are 4 worlds to play and unlock, and 3 bosses to defeat!
THE STORY: For years the Durant have lost to the superior fire power of the Heatmor, but after discovering the Magma Stone in the Magma Mountain, they were able to gain the power of the Magma Stone. Using this power, Durants were able to affect Heatmor that were exposed to the stone and overcome the fire type weakness, becoming the stronger Pokemon. You are a Heatmor that was unaffected at the time of the Magma Stone exposure (what luck!) and your quest is to go to Magma Mountain and get the Magma Stone back!

GAMEPLAY: It's explained in the tutorial, but I'll explain a little here. You use the left and right arrow keys to move side to side, and press the space bar to shoot a fireball (you can use the z,x,c keys for skills you unlock later) and you can HOLD space to auto fire! You are limited by mp (like PP) and it will recharge when you let go of the space key! You get stars for beating levels, and you have to beat the previous level to unlock the next. At the end of each world, there will be a boss, which you can defeat for the unlock of the next world!
There are four special modes on Mode Island, and you can play three of them until you defeat the game. You can get Boss Mode after beating the game!
There is a store, and a stat menu where you can upgrade yourself with stat points gained by leveling up. In the store, you can buy items to use, and increase drop rates, or buy new skills!
You can save the game with the little save icon!

NOTE : I'm aware that there will probably be bugs. Tell me if they are major, and I will only fix it if you are willing to lose all your data and EVERYONE else's data as well. DA won't let me upload the game again with the same save data, it will be all erased if I post a updated version! :P

FINALLY: I couldn't have done it without my beta testers! :D (Seriously, you should have seen the game before they helped me :XD:)

Heatmor ALREADY fear Durant's power even WITHOUT the magma Stone. Superior stats and access to Stone Edge. Really, I'm surprised Heatmor isn't going extinct because it can't kill and eat its own prey. Still, not a bad game, although I still prefer Durant over Heatmor.

Yeah, that part was added just because Heatmor has a large type advantage over Durant, but both are supposed to be powerful anyways. :D

:icongalvantulaplz::iconsaysplz:How do I play this game on a computer?

:iconchibixi:
You would press 'download' on the right side of the game, or you could just play the game straight from the deviation. :)

Okay. I'll try to download this on my computer.

Or better yet, Heatmor should start eating Wormadam.

Yeah. However, Heatmor should stop chasing Durant, fighting battles it cannot win and start going after Escavalier and Forretress. THEN the bug would be screwed.

This is probably going to sound really negative, so before I say it I want to say that I really liked this game despite everything I'm about to say, and I hope you'll update it someday and fix it!

First, it's a really bad idea to have controls that require three hands. It's very annoying to have to switch from the arrow keys to the mouse every time I want to use an item, navigate the menus, or advance past the results screen (especially advancing past the results screen). You could fix this either by setting the items, pause, and quit to hotkeys, allowing the arrow keys to be used for menus (for stage select, just add a key to switch between controlling Heatmor and the menu), and allowing space to be used to advance past the results screen; or you could fix it by allowing Heatmor to be controlled with the mouse (possibly with clock to shoot) and setting the items, pause, and quit to hotkeys (so using them doesn't interfere with moving).

Second, this game is very poorly balanced. It's so imbalanced that I feel like some kind of glitch happened that threw everything off, but it's the same every time I reload the game, so I don't know.

The first two extra skills aren't useful at all. Smokescreen does too little damage, and Claw Attack is actually weaker than Fireball despite being a close range attack. (And Triple Fireball is only a little useful because it allows you to attack a little faster and with a wider range.) Upgrading them doesn't do much, either, so every upgrade past the first few seems way overpriced. Also, Smokescreen can go to level 8 while the others go to 7. Is that intentional?

To make them better, I suggest:
-Increase the damage on Smokescreen (maybe make it do about as much as an equal level Fireball in total).
-Make Smokescreen greatly slow every enemy while it's active and completely stop them at its max level. This gives it much more utility!
-Increase the damage on Claw Attack. I feel like it should do about three or four times as much damage as an equal level Fireball, but maybe that's too much.
-Make Claw Attack hit all around Heatmor, so you can hit enemies that are to your side without using a barrier.
-Make Claw Attack hit enemies very far back. These three changes make it much better as a last ditch attack to stop Durant from getting past you!
-Make the side Fireballs for Triple Fireball slightly angled, so they spread out a little. This will make it more useful for hitting many Durant at once, although it will make it harder to hit one Durant with all three (which you can do almost as fast with three normal Fireballs anyway).

The enemies' HP gets way too high after about 90 KOs, and it doesn't stop going up (it can get over 20,000, if the bars are the same as the sandbag's)! I couldn't beat level 17 even with max stats and items, and I could only barely beat 16! This must be a glitch, but I don't know what could have caused it (unless it was somehow caused by the major glitch listed below).

It may be better to decrease the number of Durant you must defeat on each stage and slightly increase the difficulty to compensate.

Third, I found a few small glitches/inconsistencies and one major glitch:
-Going from the drops or skills menu to the items menu makes the buy buttons for the heart potion and barrier not appear. This may have something to do with having already bought every drop upgrade and skill, but they don't disappear when you switch to the items menu from any of the individual skill pages.
-The skills menu shows all skills being at level 1 no matter what level they really are.
-At some point, Smokescreen started to disappear as soon as I used it, making it even less useful. This may be because it was at level 8, but storystosee also had a problem with Smokescreen (though she may also have used it once then leveled it up to 8).
-If you tap space several times very quickly then hold it, auto fire will shoot one fireball for each time you pressed space when it would normally shoot a fireball (e.g. if you press space twice and hold, auto fire will shoot two fireballs then wait a moment before repeating instead of just one).
-The amount of experience needed for level 37 is undefined. There should be a maximum level to prevent this.
-The sandbag's HP doesn't go down nor disappear on the last hit, and you win before you would actually deal enough damage to defeat it. I assume this is intentional, because...
-Reducing the sandbag's HP to 0 restores all of its HP. (Hey, I found a use for Smokescreen! lol)
-One or two seconds are added to your time when you finish Survival Mode or Sandbag Mode.
-The results screen for Sandbag Mode appears to be the failure screen with a Durant even though it says you won. (I assume Boss Mode's results screen is like this as well, but I couldn't unlock it.)
-You can lose stars by replaying a level and earning fewer stars than you did last time.
-You can still get three stars even if you get hit if the enemies drop enough hearts to fully heal you (for at least two hits; I didn't test more than that).
-I once lost the second heart from the left instead of the leftmost heart, and continued to lose hearts as if the leftmost one wasn't there. I don't know what caused it, but I had six hearts (normal max five) when it happened.
-Major glitch: If you use so many Triple Fireballs that you can't have any more on the screen when you clear a level and keep trying to shoot more, after the results screen, it will keep sending you back to the results screen no matter how many times you advance past it. You still have a moment to click on the save icon between results screens, so you can earn unlimited experience and money then save and reload the game. (I wouldn't be surprised if this also caused several of the other glitches I encountered, lol.)

It'd also be nice to be able to see what a skill is before buying it, to know what allows you to carry more items (I think it's defense?), and to be able to skip the intro.

But like I said, I like the game and had a lot of fun playing it, breaking it, and trying to figure out how everything worked! I hope you'll update it someday or figure out what happened so I can go back and finish it!

Actually, after typing all that and retesting a few things, it occurred to me that my laptop has an older version of Flash (because it's old and can't run the newest version very well, lol). Could that have caused any of these problems?

Hi, thanks for taking all that time to write such a long reply! I have to agree, what you said was exactly right. An older version of Flash may contribute to some of them, but the major ones like the max level are entirely my fault. I really wish that you could've been one of the beta testers, so that you could've told me these before. :XD:. The little things like the triple fireball glitch and unlimited exp and money could be the root of all of the other glitches you encountered, since it sets off a whole chain of other glitches after. :P. If I have the time, I'll see to fixing some of these errors, but all save data would be erased. D: Anyways, glad you took the time to comment on this game! I'd say that you've pretty much beat the entire game, congrats. :D
